Spring is right around the corner. We are starting a new month and Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow for 2024. So an early Spring it will be, right?! As we start thinking of Spring and what kind of projects we would like to do, let’s start with some outdoor projects that will also benefit the Climate.
The number one project on our Spring List is to start harvesting rain water for our gardens. Last year my husband built us some raised garden beds and we started vegetable gardnening. This year we are going to harvest rain water for those gardens. Rainwater harvesting is one of the simplest and oldest methods of self-supply of water for households, and is an easy way to individually contribute to positively impact our Climate. The plan is to buy 2 water collection barrels and put in spigots, place them under 2 of our gutter spouts and attach hoses to the spigots. Hopefully it won’t be as dry for us this year as it was last year. I can’t even imagine how much water we used watering everything last year!! We are looking forward to utilizing rain water to water our gardens this year. Pictures will be added when we are working on this project!
